flower, feather headbands

Yes, I am perfectly aware I did not keep my promise and I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I am feeling particularly peppy due to the fact that my departure from my current job was not a huge affair around the office.  The simple, "We will miss you" statements were made and now it's like it didn't even happen.

Today, I do not have a DIY Craft, but I did find an Etsy seller that I REALLY like.  Her simplistic headbands are not only straightforward, but extremely elegant.  You could wear one of these running errands or a dinner party.  Her prices range from $5.00-$28.00 for hair accessories which I find very affordable!

Would be GREAT for stocking stuffers for Christmas this year!

DIY Pillow Case

Okay, I wanted to share this project AFTER I got done doing it myself, but we all know THAT'S not going to happen.

This requires minimal sewing, if you hand-stitch you are furthur along than I, and so easy!  Pssshh... easy for you.  I recommend going to your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, Second Hand Thrift store... whatever hand me down store you have and find a sweater versus actually ripping up a sweater just to make a silly little pillow.

I mean... unless you just don't care about your sweaters... I personally love my sweaters.  I live in Texas and I keep mine for YEARS, so giving up a sweater for this project just makes me think I'm losing a VERY valuable item when it comes to winter.

DIY Tank Top Purse

Would you believe me if I told you these were made out of tank tops???

They are!

This fantastic tutorial shows you super simple steps (if you have a sewing a machine, which I do not) on how to make them!

Best part? It's free! (;

Who would have thought those old tank tops could be so useful?

On another note, I have been a busy bee creating baby crochet headbands, studying for my graduate Marketing Management class, and trying to successfully market my products that I haven't had time to blog. Isn't that sad? I have made it a goal to at least blog AT LEAST 3 times weekly... yes... 3... times...

Until next time!

Recycled Magazine Jewelry

I... LOVE IT. I was ever so sneakily browsing around the web at the office and couldn't resist posting this really cool, but simple, How-To for you guys. Again, I'm thinking I create something pretty awesome for the hair, but this is definitely a way to design exotic jewelry and be green!

Fear of Returning Merchandise?

There should seriously be a word called returnaphobia. I just went throgh my credit card statement and added up everything that I need to return in order to see what I REALLY owe... I have about $220 tied up in merchandise that needs to be returned (Michael's, Dillard's, Wal-Mart...) and I'm too petrified to do it. So I googled it...

Turns out I just have a social disorder. Go figure.

Thanks Google!

Yeah, this is about the way I feel when I have to do it.

Papier-Mâché Floral Brooches

Okay, okay so I've decided to quit hoarding all of my craft How-To's and share the wealth since I can't ever seem to get to them. I don't understand how I will walk into a craft store with a list that I've carefully developed to get in and out, and yet I come out with everything but what was on the list.

These Papier-Mâché Floral Brooches (and yes I'm copying and pasting those fancy letters) are too cute and HOT HOT in the trendy fashion world! The picture shows that you can wear them on a jacket, but here is my take on it.... hair pins.

This awesome tutorial is a step-by-step on how to make 'em and it is so easy!

Thanks goodess for craftzine.com!

good baking pan deal!

If you go to http://www.michaels.com/ and sign up for their newsletter you will be sent a 50% coupon! So I printed a few.... more like 10... and have bought a few things here and there, but last night I bought what turns out to be a fantastic deal!

Wilton Performance Pan Set

So a $50 set cost me around $25 and they are NIIIIICEEEE. Also while I was there I stared at cake boards for what seemed like eternity and finally settled with 2 sheets of foam board and will just cut them out and decorate myself.
ALSO! If you're interest peaks about cake decorating, Michael's is offering 50% off of their Wilton Cake Class that starts at the beginning of September. I think it costs around $25 after the discount. I talked with the sweet check out girl and she had taken the class and had a lot of fun, but she did end up spending $75 extra in supplies.

completed project

I know! Can you believe it? I actually finished something I said I would start! This isn't the best picture, but it is all I had while sitting at work.

My next mission is her cake. I want to try something is very much on the difficult side for me, but I find this to be a great time to justify spending $$ on baking utensils I could possibly need in the near future.

I found this WONDERFUL woman named Janell on the internet. She has a blog and made a 9 minute video on how to make a topsy turvy cake.

http://janellscakes.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-to-make-topsy-turvy-cake.html

Now, I don't believe I will make it as well or as tall as she does. Who knows? My fondant might turn out crap and I will have to use buttercream icing. But, she has blessed us with all of her cake, icing and fondant recipes and I bow down to her skills.

I must try this. I have to. I could discover a talent that I have!

annie's bridal shower invitation

I just finished designing Annie's bridal shower invitation and I am pretty proud of myself! I don't know how well the print quality will be, but I don't really care. I am adding a piece of sheer (shear?) paper over this and tying it with green ribbon.

Let me know what you think!

put on hold

I ended up having to delete the blog post before this one (about exercising) because I'm not sure I will be able to complete my bootcamp due too other circumstances!

Although I LOVE this boot camp and I recommend it to anyone that needs a change of scenery, pace or if you don't have a membership.

My trainer is named Sam and he is a giant, graceful gazelle. Seriously. A big man that is light on his feet. It is scary.

They have other locations and they do offer co-ed. So if you are interested, I would definitely recommend you taking a looksies.

polyvore

As a full-time employee I have extremely too much selfish me time on my hands. I found this new website that has me intrigued.

You can create your own collages, which are called “sets”, with your own theme. The application is very simple to use and all you have to do is sign up! So far no porno mail...

It is more or less a marketing scheme to show off fabulous, expensive clothing and accessories, but a ton of fun to design. Once you are finished you can "Publish" your set where other people can see your design and vote if they like it. They also can point on an item that is appealing to them and it will tell you the designer, the cost and a website where you can find it. Some of the items are actually inexpensive. I kept going astray visiting many different other designer websites that I should seriously keep my nose out of.

Anyways...

I designed around three of these “sets,” but since my computer is busy being a creep I can only show you one.

Now bear with me. This was my first one and it takes awhile for my creative juices to get flowing.

I added some yellow tint to it using the plain ole' program "Paint." I think it gave it some flare! Because of my lack of creativeness this took me about an hour and a half to create. I was playing the "I want that, no I don't" game for a good hour of that time. And yes, I get paid at work today.

amy butler free patterns

In my fraught attempt to pinch a free Amy Butler purse pattern I discovered she already was kind enough to share some of them on her website! I thought I would share with you all just so you could probably beat me to a project that I will not get to until a get a bigger paycheck.

TADA!
http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/products/free_patterns.php

I figured the Business Cards look cute enough that I might give them a try if I can decipher the million instructions it comes with. Who am I to complain about too many instructions? With my lack of creativity and useless hands, I NEED countless instructions along with pictures to understand even how to make dinner.

Any veggies to your taste (i.e. mushrooms)

shredded wheat chicken fingers

I came across one of the most easiest, yummiest, (and healthy) quick chicken meal that I can't get enough of. All of you mommy's will like this as well!

I didn't take step by step pictures this time, but I think it is pretty self explanatory and you couldn't go wrong!

1 lb. chicken
1 bottle of light or fat-free italian dressing
1 c shredded wheat
(we used the large wheat in the cereal box)

  • Cut chicken into 1-inch strips or however you like your chicen fingers.
  • Marinate strips in the bottle of italian dressing for 1-2 hours.
  • Food process the shredded wheat.
  • Roll chicken strips in the shredded wheat.
  • Pop in the oven at 400 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • ENJOY!

vintage flower headbands

Forgive me for the lack of style on my page because I am apparently XML challenged, but my creative side just sparked and we must make haste!

My mother and I have been eyeballing this latest headband fashion and I have found two beautiful, vintage flowers on eBay that would look absolutely amazing on a headband.

Okay, so maybe I nabbed the idea off of Etsy, but they weren't vintage flowers. They were strange bird feathers that just looked completely bizzare. I decided to go with a little bit more of a classic, but funky look that even I would wear, and I don't do headbands.

Now, all I must do is hunt down some comfortable, wide-width headbands and viola! Cuteness all around.

If I find out my mother snatches this out from underneath me with her fancy skirt making ways, I will steal them from her.
